Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine
Anubian Lights is a Hawkwind side project that experiments with ambient music, but never abandons its art-rock/psychedelic roots. Consequently, the ambient explorations don't sound groundbreaking, nor do they sound like an inspired fusion -- instead, they just seem directionless. Hawkwind fans might find Jackal & Nine intriguing, but it will fail to capture the attention of hardcore ambient listeners.
