Review by Joshua Glazer

Along with the new mixes by Optimo and Snow Patrol, this French website collective have gone completely post-mash-up with this second mix CD. Sure, DJs like to throw out a curveball to show how eclectic they are, but is classical choral music from William Sheller the best way to segue into the nu-Parliament grooves of Sa Ra? And can that go into the '60s orchestral pop of Simon Dupree? Actually, the answer is yes, yes, yes! Because the trick is, you need all of this background information to fully process the whistling genius that is Air's "Alpha Beta Gaga" or Arthur Russell's cello- dub-hop meets Nick Drake-rarity "See Thought." And the lesson pays off by the time you reach Frankie Knuckles' post-Italio classic "Your Love" and Out Hud's modern-day Russell interpretation on "Hair Dude, You're Stepping on My Mystique." Once DJs battled with scratches and skills. Today, the pay-off goes to the one with the mad selection. The Dirty Diamonds crew are serious contenders in the geek-collector sweepstakes.
